Flagship Retreat: Navigating Setbacks
October 22-24, 2021
What is a flagship retreat?
Flagship Retreat is a build-your-own custom retreat designed to help you get exactly what you need from retreat. Flagship retreats are designed to help you create space for listening and exploring questions to help you live more intentionally.
Guests will experience rich, thoughtful conversations around the things that really matter; tons of laughter, adventure and fun; modern amenities surrounded by 240 acres of southern California landscape; slower rhythms, intentional space, and that reset we all need from time to time.
We want you to feel rejuvenated, rested, and peaceful so when you get home, you can live with more purpose, focus and joy.
What is different about the Navigating Setbacks Flagship Retreat?
This weekend will primarily focus on navigating setbacks. This can include job loss, the loss of a loved one, a shattered dream, or anything you’d define as a setback that has shifted the way you see your circumstances. It can be something you are currently navigating or something from your past that is keeping you stuck. It doesn’t need to be a large setback, but everyone in attendance will be using that lens for discussion.
This is also a retreat for people walking alongside someone who is in a painful season so the setback does not necessarily need to be your own.
Sessions will follow the general flagship framework, meaning, everything is optional, sessions will be 60-90 minutes and include an experiential component, individual exploration, and group process time. Session content will be slightly different than our general flagship sessions but will have some overlap.
What’s included?
Pricing includes use of our 240 acre property, three days and two nights of lodging in our newly renovated rooms, guided 60-90 minute programming sessions, yoga, retreat guide, plenty of free time to explore, five meals and some really fun surprises! Space is limited to enhance your experience.
Some retreats will offer trail riding, wine tasting, and massage for an additional fee. Sign ups will be first come, first serve and will be available the week before your retreat.
We do not offer discounts or scholarships at this time.
The price does not include travel to or from The Oaks. We highly recommend renting a car or using a car service. If exploring car service, check out Royalty Limousine or LaCosta Limousine and tell them THE OAKS sent you.
If you are using and Uber or Lyft driver, plan on spending about $80 each way and plan your pick up ahead of time as availability is very limited from our location.
Who are Flagship Retreats for?
Men, women, couples, small groups, friends, and individuals. People of all different ages, seasons of life, and beliefs. If you are looking for peace, rejuvenation, connection, fun….a place you can be curious, seen, known, heard, and loved just as you are….flagship is for you.
Navigating Setbacks is specifically for anyone who has experienced loss or walking with someone that is. We all experience loss in life and some of them feel crippling and leave us reeling. They are life changing and they invite us to go deeper, get curious, and become a more expansive version of ourselves.
This is for anyone facing a life altering loss who desires to grow through it. The retreat guides will hold space for you to stay curious about what taking the next step might look like. Navigating Setbacks is also an opportunity to be seen in community with others navigating their losses, hopes and dreams.
What kind of loss will you focus on?
We will not focus on any specific loss. This retreat sets a wide table for anyone who wants to come and hold space for their grief and growth. The focus of our time together will not so much be sharing our specific stories (though that will naturally happen over our time together), but diving into how we can take this pain, this struggle, this loss and find light and healing. Grief is a journey that begs to be walked, offers questions to be wrestled with and presents each of us an invitation to grow more fulling into who we are created to be.
Can I bring a friend?
YES! We would love you to bring a friend. Our friends are lifelines for us. May times a friend will walk with us as we journey through loss and they too need the support of community. If you have someone who has been a key person in your life during this season, we wholeheartedly encourage you to come to the retreat together.
Should I be a certain amount of time removed from my loss?
While we can’t put a time frame on this recommendation. We do suggest you are at a place where you have allowed yourself some time to process what you are facing and are ready to do some work in a group setting and you feel comfortable with the wide table we’ve set for various experiences of loss.
Is this an Onsite or therapeutic program?
No.
This is a peer lead support program designed to help you explore deeper questions that will support any therapeutic work you are currently doing. The guides will use their life and professional experiences to hold space for you in your healing. They are not licensed therapists. We recommend this retreat as one of the tools in your healing toolbox.
For that reason, we recommend this be a part of your ongoing work of finding a supportive community while also receiving ongoing professional support. We also recommend being in a spot in your grief process where you are currently doing your inner work of healing and can be an active participant in community with others.
There will not be a therapist present. Please use your desecration when registering and talk with your therapist to see if this weekend would be appropriate in your healing journey.
For resources and additional therapeutic programs, we recommend contacting Onsite directly at: (800) 341-7432

What are the optional workshops?
Workshops are 60-90 minutes, guided by an Oaks team member designed to help you meet you wherever you are and applies to every season you find yourself. Each session includes an experiential exercise, reflection, and group process. Everything is optional so you can build your own retreat from our offerings!
This particular weekend will take a slightly different topical focus and will be offering the following sessions:
Living The Questions
Setbacks and disappointments are catalysts for new and deeper questions. Together we will spend time exploring important life questions like: Why am I here? How do I shift my perspective? Who is God? What would living look like now? How do I move forward? How do I find joy? How do I honor the life of someone that is no longer here? How do I dream new dreams for my future?
Embracing The Invitation
Life is full of invitations. Setbacks contain their own unique invitations to see the world and our purpose for being here, in new ways. What if our brokenness is our invitation to breakthrough? What if it is here among the ashes, we find what we are made for? In this session, our guides will help you explore how to embrace all of your story, the really beautiful and the really difficult parts and create something beautiful from it.
Honoring the Pain
Where do we place our pain? When the world is ready to move forward before we are, how do we remember and grieve in ways that honor what we have lost without being swallowed up by our disappointments? What keeps us from getting stuck and how do we find hope and joy in the midst of our setbacks? As a group, we will take a look at hope in light of where we are and talk about ways to honor our grief.
Navigating the Future
How do we hold the pain of our disappointments alongside dreams for the future? With experimental exercises and thoughtful questions guiding our time, we will look at what truly matters and what integration looks like as we transform our pain into tangible impact that breeds love and hope in their hearts, families and communities.
How will we be gathering safely?
We have intentionally limited attendance to keep the group small. In addition to following CDC guidelines, all group gatherings will be outside or limited in size to ensure social distancing protocols.
Outdoor seating encouraged. Guests are not allowed into other guest’s rooms and single occupancy rooms are available. Please review our guidelines on our website for further information or contact us with any questions.
If we have to cancel the event, your complete registration fee can be transferred to another retreat.
Who are the guides for the weekend?
Oaks Director and Flagship Creator, Stefanie Boyce, and Jessica Lindberg, Heart Strong Community Founder and podcast host will be facilitating the weekend.
Both women have extraordinary lives of resilience, pain, loss, and beauty, and have used their pain and setbacks to encourage and inspire others to create something beautiful from their pain.
Is there an age limit?
Currently, our programming is designed for adults 18 years old or older.
During our general sessions, children 14-18 are welcome to attend with a parent/guardian and are required to share a room with a parent. Our goal is to keep distractions at a minimum both for you the parent and for our guests, so we ask parents use their discretion. For this special weekend, we ask participants 18 or older.
Will there be horseback riding?
We are excited to announce on some of our Flagship retreats, we will be offering limited spots to go trail riding while on campus with one of our Oaks Equestrian guides during free time! Space is limited and will require a sign up prior to arrival.
Don’t want to ride but still want to meet the horses and highland cattle? No problem! Every Flagship retreat includes a trip to Oaks Equestrian where you will have opportunities to pet, feed and take as many selfies as you want!
Will Bob Goff or Miles Adcox be there?
Bob loves to pop in every once in awhile so if he’s around, you may get a Bob sighting, but he is not part of the programming.
Miles lives out of state so it is rare that he is on campus.
Both owners believe in the power of rest and renewal among friends! Bob reminds us, “rest is holy” and Miles reminds us to "trust the process.” If you are interested in attending an Oaks Workshop with Bob Goff or Onsite event at the Oaks when they are present, please check out our all our offerings.
How do I register with a voucher or gift card?
If you purchased a voucher in 2020-March 2021, email us to get a custom discount code to simplify the process or add guests.
If you’ve recently purchased a gift card, you will enter the code at check out and total will be subtracted from your balance.
